For many people new to camping the idea of what to eat might seem intimidating. If you want something beyond Peanut Butter and Jellys or Cold Cuts for your camping meals, here’s some simple ideas for your next car camping adventure.
Useful Tools
- Cast Iron Skillet
- Pie Iron
- S’more Stick
- Olive Oil
- Multi Seasoning
- Spatula
- Hot Pads
- Camping Plates
- Cooler
- Campfire or Camp stove
Breakfast Bagel Sandwich
- Bagel
- Breakfast meat, we like bacon or thick cut ham
- Cheese
- Avocado
- Eggs
- Butter
Tips
Rather than bringing a carton of eggs, crack the eggs in a mason jar or Tupperware before you leave. The glass will help it stay cold and dry in your cooler and you wont have to worry about cracked shells. We stab a S’more Stick through the bagel to toast them or if we’re car camping and have our tripod thing you see in the photo, we just toast them on the grate.

Hot Dogs
- Hotdog
- Bun
- Toppings
You can’t go wrong with a hotdog over a campfire. Use S’more Sticks or a nice nature stick, those are perfect. Rotate this bad boy over the fire to your heart’s content. I like mine with a fair bit of char on the outside. Ketchup, mustard and I’m good to go.

Pie Iron Tacos
- Protein: Ground Beef, Ground Turkey, Chorizo
- Taco Seasoning
- Salsa
- Pillsbury Dough
- Cheese
Tips:
Brown the taco meat prior to putting it in the dough. That’s not so much a tip as it is a straight up direction, you have to do it. Butter or oil the Pie iron prior to putting the dough in it. This will help it to come out without sticking when you’re done. Use enough dough that it is sticking out of the edges and seals up when the pie iron is closed.

Skillet
- Protein
- Ground Turkey, Beef, Sausage
- Vegetables
- Diced Potatoes, Onions, Carrots, Spinach
- Cheese
Start by seasoning and browning your meat in the pan. Once that’s done add your vegetables and last your cheese. Simple as that.
